Introduction


Amlodipine besylate belongs to the family of calcium channel blocker for lowering the blood pressure in hypertension. They work to lessen the workload (pump) of Heart by relaxing the blood vessels. Atorvastatin calcium is an HMG CoA reeducates inhibitors that are the family of statins. It is used for lowering the bad-cholesterol level & raising good- cholesterol level in the body.

Mechanism of action

Amlodipine works on the principle of blocking the calcium ion influx across the cell membrane due to which vasodilatation occurs & peripheral vascular resistance decreases to lower the blood pressure whereas Atorvastatin action for lowering bad cholesterol is shown by inhibiting HMG CoA reductase enzyme which is essential for the reduction conversion of HMG CoA to mevalonate thereby inhibit bad cholesterol synthesis.
