Introduction


Fluconazole belongs to a class of products called azole antifungals. Azole antifungal agents have the potency to treat systemic fungal infections & also used against yeast infections. It comes in Tablet, Suspension & injectable form.

Antifungal products generally work by either killing the fungal cells or inhibiting Cytochrome P450 which inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol (fungal sterol) from lanosterol. Fluconazole has a broad spectrum of activity against common fungal pathogens (eg Candida species, Cryptococcus neoformans).
